Suvin Cotton
The ultimate expression of textile luxury
Known among connoisseurs as White Gold: an Extra-Long Staple cotton, hand-picked in southern India, that outperforms the premium cottons it is measured against.
White gold
A textile treasure so rare it has its own legend.
In an era of fast fashion and synthetic blends, Suvin stands as a testament to patience, heritage and uncompromising quality. It is the pinnacle of the global textile industry, and connoisseurs call it White Gold for good reason.
Suvin was born in the 1970s in southern India, through meticulous agricultural engineering. It is a hybrid, and its name tells you exactly what went into it.
- Su Sujatha
- The robust Indian cotton strain that gives the fibre its strength.
- Vin St. Vincent
- The legendary Sea Island variety, historically the most luxurious cotton in the world.
Crossing the two produced an Extra-Long Staple fibre that frequently surpasses Egyptian Giza and American Pima, grown today in only a few select micro-climates.
A labour of love
Every boll picked by hand.
Suvin cannot be mass-produced. Its growth cycle runs longer than ordinary cotton and demands specific climate, rich soil and precise watering. Machinery is never used for the harvest.
Each boll is picked by hand, by skilled farmers, to protect the length and structure of the fibre. That care avoids the breakage and contamination common in machine-harvested cotton, and it is also why the annual yield stays so small. Rarity here is a consequence of method, not marketing.
The science
Measured against the industry, it simply wins.
-
38-40 mm
Staple length
A fibre span that places Suvin in the highest tier of Extra-Long Staple cottons. Longer fibres mean fewer joins in the spun yarn, and a fabric that is smooth and structurally flawless.
-
2.8-3.0 micronaire
Fineness
Fine enough to let spinners pack an exceptional thread count into a square inch without the cloth ever feeling heavy or stiff.
-
High tensile
Strength
Strength inherited from its Indian parent strain, so a gossamer-fine yarn still withstands the tension of weaving and years of ordinary wear.
We can share spinning counts and fabric specifications for your programme, and quote against your own yarn requirements.
Request specificationsThe tactile experience
How it feels to wear.
The laboratory numbers matter because of what they become against the skin. Four things give Suvin away immediately, and none of them can be imitated by a synthetic blend.
- 01
Peerless softness
Fibres this fine and this long leave none of the microscopic protruding ends that make ordinary cotton turn rough with age.
- 02
A natural, silk-like lustre
Suvin carries its own quiet sheen. Woven, it catches light the way silk does, which lifts an everyday garment into something clearly premium.
- 03
Breathability and thermo-regulation
Porous by nature, it moves air and wicks moisture, so it stays cool in heat and insulates comfortably when the temperature drops.
- 04
Colour that holds
A pure, structurally intact fibre takes dye exceptionally well. Colours read deeper and richer, and resist fading through years of washing.
Closest to the skin.
Suvin is naturally hypoallergenic, which makes it the right choice for anything worn against the skin all day. In a well-tailored T-shirt it turns a staple into a luxury piece, with a drape no blend can mimic.
The same qualities make it our first choice for infant wear. Gentle, chemical-free and highly breathable, it gives baby rompers a cloud-like softness against skin that cannot tolerate anything less.
Our promise
